What Baseline means
A baseline is the picture of the numbers before the work starts: organic traffic, positions, citations and conversions, captured exactly the way they will be captured later. Without one an improvement cannot be shown, because there is nothing to compare it against. It is written down in full at the start and never revised: a baseline rewritten halfway is an invented result.
